My 3yo daughter at her dance class. The lighting in this space is not great, so this was the best I could do with it.

Why Compelling
The fact that I got something out of this lighting and location that met my minimum creative goals was worthwhile. The softness of the shot works here I think. The pose tells us that she is at least learning from her teachers and having fun. A good memory to take forward too.

Sunrise, fog lifting, single dandelion head. Thought this made for a nice photo for today.
This is cropped tighter than shot with an 85 1.8 and 32mm extension tube.
I only took two lenses on this trip; 30 1.4 & 85 1.8 and a D300 with the battery vertical removed.

Why Compelling
The light, the subject, the droplets, the framing all work really well for me. I might have worked this shot more if I had my macro lens with me. The fact that I had to be creative with two fast primes makes the shot even more compelling for me because I did not have a macro lens with me.

Light caught my eye as sunset approached, then went into the timothy hay to see what was there. This big grasshopper made for a nice subject. This is as framed with an 85 1.8 and 32mm extension tube.

Why Compelling
I love the light, the subject placement, the depth in this shot, the foreground and background bokeh all sing for me here. I have many other shots like this from this few minutes, but this one was the best to my eyes.

Took the train to Seattle this morning. Then went for a two hour walk around downtown. This is as-framed and shot in Occidental Park in Pioneer Square area. Public art that caught my eye for just this approach.
I only took two lenses on this trip; 30 1.4 & 85 1.8 and a D300 with the vertical grip removed.

Why Compelling
This shot came out exactly as I envisioned it from across the street. I knew what I wanted from the location, the light and the color. This really works well for me.

Why Compelling
I like the backlight here. I really was not pleased with the default color, but did not think the B&W was all that compelling. The two merged together this way worked better for me and made the image more compelling.

Choosing how to see your world. Color exposures and IR exposures and how I planned to merge them together.
Playing catchup from being out of town with no computer access, internet or anything but a camera.

Why Compelling
This location was chosen, and the walk to it, specifically to shoot this idea. It came out exactly as I wanted, even though on the walk there it would work out as I imagined. It did.
The idea of the merger of two visuals, Infrared and color, brought together this way is something I have wanted to do for awhile and like the result.
